Altea Head unit

I would like to upgrade my headunit to another updated Altea headunit with an AUX - IN. my 05 sport doesn’t have that option, and I really miss it!. Anyone done this, reason is I dont want to lose the functionality of the steering wheel controls by fully upgrading the HU.

It's not suppose to be possible but we'll see if anybody has done it.... one for Klawits. I reckon they changed the front panel and it's probably connected to that.

This may not be possible but on my Fabia I was able to buy an aux-in cable from ebay that plugged into the back of the stereo (where a cd multichanger would go) and then just plug the other end into my mp3.

Don't know if the same is possible on the Seats?

Yes you can get interface boxes for the headend that do that... you press the CD changer button and it gives you the aux in. Audioleads and a Golf V headend connection is one search google, since that is what it is. Other people have connected there IPods where the steering wheel buttons control the IPod, I have an MD Changer and my box translates the headend instructions to the Sony type for Sony equipment, whether it's CD / MD or DVD. So it's not a total disaster if you don't have the latest headend.

An option - i had one of the last non-mp3 altea FRs and agreed wit hthe dealer to replace the head unit with a new one for free. The MP3 head unit does have an aux in, but much more useful, but i just burn and use mp3 CDs, im pretty sure the audio quality of the mp3 unit is better too.

Hi.

Clarion do a CAN adapter that allows you to upgrade the headunit for any Clarion unit and keep the steering wheel controls. On the Clarion web site look at the 'CIP installer programme'. Have had one fitted to my Altea for the last year.

I bought this from ebay - item 280118256805 - it connects to CDchanger input of the HU and allows any audio signal to come in

works nicely, I would recommed for such a price
