HI, i, m new to the forum, although not new to owning Seat Cars.i have owned 2 toledoes Mk2 , 2 Alteas , a sport and since new a 09 plated fr. And as a second car 3 ibiza, s mk4 to new 15plate fr.These cars have never let me down and as you can see i am abig Seat , I feel the need to let you know about some frustrations i, m having regarding my Altea Fr and wordering if other owners are having the same problem.
i have owned my altea fr from new , full service history at the dealer and all repairs carried out by them also.I think the car is brill but recent events are raising concerns.6month ago i needed to replace the exhaust as the rear box was sheding skin, i decided to upgrade the exhaust systemto the double twin system and renew the rear valance to accomodate this. This took thedealer 3 weeks to arrange, car was booked in 2 days to have this fitted, only to recieve a phone call this accessorie does not fit because "it, s an Fr!". It ended up a bog standard exhaust fitted no chrome tail pipes , why "because it is an FR" couldn, t source the proper exhaust this would need to come direct from Seat. What!!!!!
Just this week the front offside spring broke, took it to the dealers today only to be told they dont have a replacement spring because"it, s an FR" spring will have to be ordered from Seat arrives Tuesday.
When i bought this vehicle it was the top of the Altea range, now it seems there ie a major problem getting spares WHY? "Because " it, s an FR

HOW MANY Altea Fr owners are out there and do you have the same problems?

I've had this also and the worst part of it is I'm in Southern Ireland where there are only about three Altea FR's registered or so I've been told.
Front left springs I don't think should be an issue as they are colour coded, look in over your wheel and you'll see splodges of colour and they are how they are matched for tolerances, there is nothing that I'm aware of the suggests the FR springs are different to the Stylance or similar.....I think you were fed **** on that one.
My car broke a spring and I had to replace the front two as Seat Ireland only had a matched pair in stock and they wouldn't split them.

The rear exhaust box, I too have had this "FR excuse" but purely because the Altea FR is rare here, the Leon is fairly common and these share the same rear boxes and that was my argument.....which i won!!! :)
With you going to the main dealer I don't know why they are telling you "because it is an FR" couldn, t source the proper exhaust this would need to come direct from Seat".......if they are a Seat garage surely they are using genuine Seat/VW parts???? That's one I'd question with them.......
