Hi guys I have just made the decision to buy a new altea fr having already owned a leon fr a few years ago..but on doing some research it seems that the altea fr is to be discontinued in fr form from july 1st 2009..it seems there will only be a sport from now on.Does any one know if this new altea sports will be an fr in everything but name or just a watered down version..?Any help would be appreciated as i dont know if i should search the dealer network for a new fr or wait for the new sport model with the all the new toys ...

How Do?

Yes your right they are dropping the Altea FR. Apparently reviews have slated Seat stating the Altea doesnt fit into the FR brand.

Ive just bought a Red 08 Altea FR yesterday, having sold my Leon Cupra R.

Ive seen the new 09 Altea with the revamped bumpers and interior it doesnt look bad. Interior looks fresher but i could hardly tell the difference on the outside apart from the headlight washers.

Ive seen the new Altea TDI 170BHP and to be honest Id rather have the FR. I cant recall what they are calling it but it wasnt anything exciting. Im disappointed they are stopping the FR brand but also looking on the brightside. Altea FR's are rare and now will be even more so now so they will hopefully hold there value a little better.

My advice BUY AN ALTEA FR !!!!!!!!! Those grey wing mirror covers, FR gear knob and FR badge on the rev counter makes me smile everytime i see it.

Yeah you could be right mate.. but i will take a good look at the new altea sport 170 with all the goodies to see which is the right choice.. If the new altea sport is an fr without the badging well maybe thats the way to go....

Popped into my local Seat Dealership today and they've got the new sporty Altea in. I didnt have time to look at it in detail but it looked ok, seemed to have new style rear bumper. It defo had the new style interior. I didnt like the seats tho, looked ok for an old couple going on a picnic but not stylish enough for the younger generation.
