Hey guys, have an Altea with 110,000kms on the clock and it has a little bit of back pressure....I think!!!
While warm and at idle when you pull the stick or remove the oil filler cap there is a bit of white steamy stuff blowing out. It's not using oil or water and it does the little shimmy on tick over that has been mentioned on here countless times.
Is this a common thing with these engines?
I have posted this on before when I thought I had a turbo problem......
I have changed the oil and while doing so I discovered the oil filter had not been changed by a former well known service agent in Dublin as they even though they billed for for an oil change and new filter. The whole filter had started to suck istelf into itself and the oil that was in it was pure piss!!!
Could this be the cause? The dealer I was talking about have since shut down so I have no come back.

It's also a little bit smokey when I put the boot down passing 120kmph in 5th, would millers sport 4 clear this up and what are peoples opinions on Millers.....I take it it is safe to use in VAG engines?
Regards,
Gav

I see you live in Dublin, do you actually live in the city i.e. sit in traffic, ALL the time? If so, a good drive to get the oil temperature high enough will sort it out i thing, I have the same engine and get the shimmy you talk about, every few seconds a slight judder/vibration. Steam is water evaporating from the oil.

Hey, I actually live on the outside of Dublin, the car gets an M4 motorway run everyday!!! I also drove to Mayo and back last week and there was no difference!!!
The car is going fine but I'm wondering of the piston rings are going and when is is really going to start causing problems!!!
Cheers Guys!!!
