Hey Guys,
I have a 2004 1.9 Altea S and it is blowing oil back onto the firewall. It is happening on the top half of the engine, to the left as you look down onto it. It is towards the rear as there is no trace on the front side of the engine.
I'm wondering could it be a turbo issue?? There is a hiss as you apply the power, a friend of mine has the same car and this does the same hiss but I'm wondering if mine has gone onto some next step. Also, when you remove the dip stick or the oil filler cap there is a white steamy rise as the engine is running and possibly I think, a little bit of back pressure. I don't know if this is normal......??
Could it be a rocker cover gasket, head gasket, dodgey pipe? There is only 102000kms on the clock......
It ain't using water or overheating and has not used oil up until it started throwing it out.
Has anyone had this before??
Anyone have any clues?
Is this one gonna cost me????
Thanx guys!!
Gavin

There's no F in Quality..
Sounds like a possible turbo related issue I'm afraid.

Without seeing it, it's difficult to diagnose further.

Best bet will be to pop along to your nearest dealer, and ask them to have a quick look and see if they can diagnose it for you.

Yep, turbo is gone, some seal in the middle of it is gone or so I'm told. Was quoted €1800 supplied and fitted!!
Does anyone on here from Ireland know where I would get a better price??

Got this sorted, it wasn't the turbo unit itself but a high pressure pipe going to or coming from it!! Once again my local stealer tried to have me!!

Just posting this incase someone has a similar problem and they are told it's the actual turbo unit.....GET A SECOND OPINION!!!!

They stripped the turbo off the engine and said the bearings were fine and free flowing. It was only an oil leak and there was no real oil loss to the unit.
