Right as with most people who post here I know very little about head units but I want a new one and hope you dudes could help me out.
I have a 2003 LCR with the standard head unit. What I want to do is change this for an aftermarket one with specific features but without going to all the hastle of changing speakers etc also not bothered about keeping CD changer.
I like my music and listen to various music all the way from hard trance to a wee bit of heavy metal, classical (when bairns crying) to indie stuff.
Me and my wife both have newish Sony Ericsson Bluetooth phones

What I want is a bluetooth enabled head unit that will play my phone stored music, will allow me hands free calling (without seperate mic), will show me who is calling, will allow me speed dialing presets, looks good (preferably white/red display) and.... thats about it really
I have looked at the Sony MEX-BT2500 and MEX-BT5000. I like the price of the first and the increased functions of the second but not too sure about the look of the second
I looked at the Pioneer DEH-P65BT and liked it, liked the function, the look of it, the colour changes and pretty much everything but couldn't find out if it caller displays or not, infact the same with all of these units.

Can someone suggest units like these with the functions I mentioned above but hopefully under £200. This is not set in stone but would have to be perfect to pay more than this. I know this isn't a huge amount of money but as I'm not upgrading speakers I hope to get a decent HU of this

Cheers muchly, merry christmas to you all

Right with searching online I've narrowed it down to a few favourites

Becker Grand Prix 7992, Sony MEX BT 5000 and 2500 and Pioneer DEH P65BT

Anyone with any comment about these or other Bluetooth units

I've got the Becker in my Ibiza and it's a fantastic HU, but I don't think it actually allows you to play music from your phone via Bluetooth. Also there's a separate mic included in the package which you have to wire up and attach somewhere in the car, which I suspect is the case with all of the others tbh.

The becker doesn't allow you to stream music from phone...

Ive had the MEX-BT5000 for about 12 months now! Excellent bit of kit, bar the car obviously its the best thing i've bought.

Bluetooth connectivity is bar far the way to go, i never have to play with my phone in the car again, all calls come directly through the head unit the MEX-BT5000 has CLI so even if you havent stored the number in the head unit then you can still see the number of the caller. If the number is stored in the unit then thier name appears.

I also use the bluetooth streaming features, i think the only time i have put a cd into the unit is when i tested it! just put everything on my phone and listen to it from there.

You can also connect and iPod or similar device if needed but personally i didnt like having the phono cable lying around when i want using it!

the only downside is that it doesnt support the feature of lowing or highing the volume with the car speed! i loved this feature with the standard Seat unit but missed it when the sony went it. But thats a really small price to pay for the other features it has!

all in all, 10/10! wouldnt change it!

Let me know if you want anymore info!

Thanks Darren

I still haven't got one of these. Lots of other things have cropped up since.
Sounds like a good system and probably alot cheaper now too
