Alloy advice for winter tyres

Hi all,

I need advice please.

I want to buy an inexpensive set of 17" alloys to go on my 2.0 TDI Sport DSG. It would be a spare set with winter tyres on, that I would swap on and off with the OEM 17s that have summer tyres on.

Obviously I want to get the correct offset and everything, so has anyone got any advice on where I can either get a cheap OEM set of 4, or otherwise a set that would be a good fit?

In case anyone is interested I've decided on Michelin Alpin A3s as the tyres, not exactly sporty, but perfect for the weather we've been having!

EDIT: Or alternatively can anyone advise whether 16s would fit over the brake callipers and maintain good ventilation? If so where I could find a reasonably priced set of these?

I have a full set of o/e wheels from my 07 Fr I replaced them when I got the car which showed 1850 miles- I think they are pretty near as new so make me an offer- wheels located in my garage- St Albans. As pic below:-

I have a set of 17" 5 spoke off a 2.0 TDI SPORT they are fitted with dunlop 225/45/17 tyres hardly used and so are the correct wheel and offset for your car,They are on e/bay at the moment.

Hi Paul,

I can confirm 16" rims fit over the calipers... I fit Vredestein Snowtrac 2 through winter (December to March normally) and couldnt recommend them more highly - awesome tyres..

I think they were from an early Leon MK2 Sport... I went for the 16" because they are not as wide as the 17" rims and I wanted to fit the narrowest tyres I could...
