Hi all

for want of a better word 'bobbles' are what have appeared on my V5's seats,i am sure this is a regular problem ,any suggestions for the best way to get rid without wrecking the finish ?
Had thought about a suede brush like for shoes but thought it might be a bit too coarse

Any suggestions gratefully recd!

Don't use anything that is designed for suede, because it isn't suede!! Its alcantara, an artificial suede material that requires a whole load of different maintenance techniques.

What I did recently was to 'shave' the seats. Yes I know that sounds odd (and possibly a little kinky!) but it did work. I used a Gillette Sensor blade that had outlived its usefulness on my face, but was still good enough for the seat. It didn't get rid of all the bobbles, but it removed the larger ones.

The smaller bobbles were more visible because they were dirty, so once I'd cleaned the seat with some upholstery cleaner, the smaller bobbles were much less visible, and the seat looked very respectable again.

I'm guessing the shaving solution won't work more than a couple of times before you get to the base material, but it did the trick for me!

The only thing I might say about the bobble removers is that they will remove ALL bobbles, and there is a possibility you'll end up with none of the 'fur', it'll just be bare threads. I deliberately only got rid of the big obvious bobbles and cleaned the smaller ones, so at least I still had a decent surface. You can always shave the surface again if it doesn't do enough, if you remove too much you can't exactly glue it back on again!
