Ive just done a search on the Alana but cant find the answer. Here's the question! Does your Alana receive radio reception as bad as mine!!? It flick's from stereo reception to mono at random! Is there anything that car be done? All Alana head unit's ive seen have been the same.

There is a way of activating a kind of amplifier thing within it to make it better - I had this same problem when I 1st got my car. It's in the manual but if you don't have one i'll post up how to do it.

Before I put my Alpine HU in I'd had my Alana out a couple of times just to see how the wiring ran...I rerouted the aerial lead slightly & got much better reception, tried it the way it was put in stock & it got poor reception again. Just make sure it's routed as far away as possible from any other cabling, especially power cables. Just so you know, it did the same with the Alpine in as well.

Have fun ;)

Mine does the same thing Stephen O, pain in the you know what in my opinion. Time for Alana to go I think, quite like the look of this I had a play with in Halfrauds:

Had a gander through the Alana handbook and it appear's to be a problem with the RCP, Its either on or off but in bad reception area's in should be on. I will give it try and see what happen's!!

Halfrauds are doing it with £200 off, £399.00 now which I thought was quite good.

Gonna try the radio manual Stephen O, see what happens.

Well i switched the 'RCP' on today and its has improved the reception quality by quite a bit! Worth doing if your suffering with the same problem. What i dont get though is why they havent switched it on from new???!!!

I assume 'RCP' means reception, to change it you need to go in to the program menu. Press and hold the PTY button until you get into the menu and then search for RCP.

Just to add to this though, a friend at work has an 03 Plate Tdi sport and his radio doesnt have the Rcp function. But his radio is the older spec with the small flip off front section.
