airbox mod on mk3 ibiza

how many people are running there ibizas with the standard airbox that has been smoothed inside and with a cold air feed.

im going to do mine as soon as my ducting arrives from bill and just wanted to no what people thought of it.

ive done a few searches but most of the airbox mods seem to be done on the leon

I think martyn had it on his car, before he turned to the rainbow coloured side!

I think its a case of removing anything in the airbox that may interupt airflow, ie smoothing the hole thing out, and i believe people get v good results with the modded box, comparable with the likes of dynatwist etc, i believe.

What do people use for smoothing?

From the photos i have seen, there is quite alot of plastic to remove.

A dremel type tool, to cut away the fins, and that should be ok, but you could use a file or sandpaper to uber smooth it, but make sure there's no debris in there when you refit it.

It will get blown out by a sprayduster before it goes on the car, however if the air filter is doing it's job properly the odd but of debris wont cause any harm.

a have air tools in work which should be able to smooth it really well ill post some pics when i get it done

That to be honest would be the simplest way of doing it, you could of course cut them with a stanley knife.

Yeah filter will stop debris, but cleaning it out, will lessen the chance of any getting through.
