Driving back from Gatwick on Thursday night.... "Ding.... Airbag fault"

Took it into dealer this morning to run diagnostics. Apparently there is a wiring update requried in the passenger seat side airbag, failing that a new sensor.

At same time they found fault codes for:
The book lock - might explain why boots sometimes remains locked when I get out of car.
The interior alarm sensor - Thought it took a lot of jumping around inside the car to trigger the alarm.

Also upgraded the ECU software whilst it was in... (Apparently SEAT have released a new version to fix a few problems) Its probably in the mind but I'm sure it feels quicker now.

Surprisingly good service from dealer & booked in for Wednesday to have new parts fitted..

isnt it a shame when you're suprised to get good service!! it should be the other way round.

anyway, pleased you're getting things sorted. are they doing anything for the other fault codes or only the airbag?

It should be other way round but rarely is!

They are going to sort all the fault codes on Wednesday, although they did warn me more parts maybe required but isn't really a problem as dealer is only ten minute walk from work

I think I have the same problem with my airbag too....
I picked the new car up on Thursday evening and 'ding' airbag warning light !
Their tried clearing down the error but it wouldn't have it, so the cars going back in on Friday to get it sorted :)

Got the same problem.

It appeared last week, then i took it to the service, when they run the diag., they told me that it's a temporary fault, so they just ignored it from vag-com. But driving back home, "dinggg", again.. next day went to service again, and there's a problem in the passenger side active seatbelt is what they told. They were so busy (20 cars inside to service, all were maintenancing) so i've been told to come back on Monday. So i'm going tomorrow, i guess we will sort out.

Dealer knew of a modification for the wiring in the passenger side airbag system & if that doesn't fix it they will fit a new sensor. Its obviously a problem waiting for all of us....

Maybe in time it will become enough of a problem to recall affected vehicles

yup, mine was in today to have this 'wiring modification'.

the ECU update that wurzel mentioned is apparently a recall. Although my dealer could not sort it out because of a problem with their system but told me the recall was recall number 2451 if anyone else wants to get it done!!

im just trying to have a look around to see what exactly it fixes (anyone know?!?!).

more than likely, i had a look at the AA site at Leon recalls and didn't see anything. if it had been major i guess they wouldn't have let me drive it away!!!

Yeah I think it was an internal advisory recall...

Would like to know what it fixes, I mean afterall when you download a hardware driver it tells you what it fixes...

Chris do you know month/year your car was made? Has the wiring mod fixed the problem?

wurzel, yeh the wiring mod appears to have fixed the problem (the only symptom of the problem was the airbag light which is now gone)

it was first registered 07 / 07/ 2006, so i guess just before then it was made!!
