Air Con stopped working in 53 TDI 130

Just outside the three year warranty and the air con has stopped blowing out cold air. Its coming out the same temperature as 'LOW' without the air con button being pressed.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Has the gas ever been recharged? May have run out in which case no cold temp.

is the compressor actually working?

if you have the engine turning over at tickover and then turn the ac on (from off! ) can you hear a change in the engine noise?

if not, its posible the compressor isnt functioning. - this could be a number of things - a wiring issue, pressure switch issue, or just completely goosed.
