Air Con Problem

Hello,

I've got a problem with my Airconditioning, basicly when I press the A/C button the temperature is not dropping, just stays the same as normal. I went to a garage this afternoon, and asked for the problem to be diagnosed. There was plenty gas in it, but discovered that there was no power going to the compressor, as when he run power direct from the battery, it engaged. He gave me a number for an electrician, but is it possible the Fuse could be blown? I also read on another thread that the outside temperature sensor sometimes causes problems? mine is always showing as 40c+ but it's been like that for a while now..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't of thought it was the outside temperature sensor if it's reading high, as that would only give the air con more reason to be on. I would say there is a good chance it is a fuse as others have had problems like this and changing the fuse has fixed it. I would check that first but if that doesn't fix it then it may be a good idea to connect up a VAG COM to look for errors.

I had the same problem with mine, turned out to be a bad connection in the wiring to the radiator fans, IIRC. SEAT diagnosed it, fitted new wiring, and a fixed it for £120 which wasnt too bad I thought.

But generally when this happens it's usually the fuse on the battery.

Thanks for your replies.. Which fuse do I need to look for and how would I know if it needs changing or not (Sorry if these sound like really stupid questions, fairly new to diy work on my car!)

Am i correct to think that it is the same fuse which operates the engine fans? My car overheated on the M11 last week.. this would also explain why this happened.

Thanks
