Air Con Problem

Air Con Problem

My climate doesn't blow out ice cold air mean't to get it checked out but time went by and then the LCD display started flashing when ignition first turned on. I eventually had it regassed it didn't cure the lack of cold air but it did cure the flashing lcd panel which I thought was faulty. But, have now found out that it was trying to tell me that I had an error with my aircon. Does it keep the fault codes? How do I access these codes, I've tried using the guides found on this site but have had no luck. Do I need the climate on, ignition on, engine running? If anybody could help I'd much appreciate it.

Cheers

Hi Noddi,
There are quite a few posts on here already with the same fault, happened to mine also. Generally it is the compressor that is shot, just regassing cures for a very short time and then goes again. Extremely common on VAG cars. Cost of compressor anywhere up from £300 + fitting etc

compressors - not too common on alhambras. if the panel has stopped flashing it means the initial fault has been some-what rectfied, however in order to run correctly the A/C system needs to know everything is 100% ok. the faults must be cleared from the control unit via diagnostic equipment, then the A/C can be tried. I tested a polo at weekend. The A/C didnt work, all i did was erase the fault and re-try it - hey presto it was fine and dropped in temp by 8degrees as oppose to none.
Its more then likely a low pressure fault which has shown up (due to lack of gas) if it is erased then the A/C works fine then your problem is solved, but if it fails again in a couple of weeks then you have a leak somewhere.
hope that helps.
