hey guys / gals

need a bit of advice for my air con in my leon. its not actually working, however the compressor is working, and the clutch engages when it switched on; it has been regassed, and there are no leakages in any of the pipes. Can u think of any reason why it would stop working? i've head that it might be a sensor or something, but i dont really have a clue when it comes to air con, and im sure someone knows more than me!

Anyone able to give me a bit of advice? :)

Cheers
Andy

Does the little * come on when you press the button - can you hear the drop in engine note when you turn it on - can you smell it trying to work?

yup the * comes on in the display, and the engine rpm lowers as the clutch engages, but nothing. And smell it trying to work? not really noticed any smells, just a lack of cold air!

I have no idea, I thought you wanted the cold air on. Is the heater not working either then?. Not sure what it is then apart from some dealer investigation. Someone else might have a better idea. They do cause a bit of grief to some though with screen faults, matrix leaks etc..:(

some may say lala land....
does cold or hot air come out even without the * being used?
does it come on when you press AUTO?
do fans speed up when you alter speed?

I also read on here and in manual, that you should at least once a week give it 5-10mins of full heat (VERY VERY hot) and then 5-10mins of full cold (VERY VERY cold, especially in this weather) to make sure it all functions correctly and is kept kinda clean.....

Get it re-gassed. had mine done and the guy explained that if it is not used regularly the joints and bearings dry up which means that when you do fire it up gas escapes. Mine had to be vacuum drained and then refilled to get it working properly. Very cold now. Any air con service place can do it, took about 20 mins
