I have just bought a Mk3 1.9 STDI Ibiza Y reg. everything was fine until I go out in the morning and find that when I turn the engine on, the air con doesn't work, the fan is jammed on its last setting, the radio doesn't work and the screen on the center unit doesn't display anything except the time in the corner; set to 0:00 hours. has any1 ever had this before? Could it just be fuses?

Help me plz!!!!!!

Have you checked the fuses?

Was it working previously?

have you removed the facia?

If so check the that the ribbon cable is connected properly.

Sounds to me that the power lead has been taken off the back of it. Take off the fascia(2 screws) an take out the stereo(4 screws) to check all the wires are connected to the back of it

fascia?

I attempted to remove the front fascia, i removed the two screws underneath it but it refused to budge easily and it looks like the whole dash is in one large piece. Does the fascia only run up to the hazard light section or all the way up. I don't want to give the system a good tug in case I've missed screws and end up buggering the whole front of the dash, and the screen. Also if I disconnect the battery will it do anything adverse to the other electronic systems on the car? Trip counter, mileage, ABS etc...... See the other Ibiza I have is a '95 model and it is mostly mechanical (and petrol), no frills.

just the two screws at the bottom then carefully lever up, your right it stops below the hazard switch, it just has a few clips holding it in. Unplugging the battery will only loose your current trip couter (set back to 0) otherwise it will just reset the ecu (which isnt a bad thing - some have reported better performance after)

fixed the AC!!!! but....

I got the AC back online, I removed the front fascia and the radio unit then reconnected the lot and it came back online, prob a loose wire. The cassette still doesn't operate though. Can I replace the whole cd changer radio unit with another one or does it have a security code etc... to stop me switching the units???

i dont think it has a code, so should be ok to swap out. My cassette didnt work when i got the car so the dealer had to get a replacement head unit, but they ordered the wrong type without the extra functions like trip computer etc, so they had to just swap out the tape part of the head unit. worked fine.

Nice, that was my next question. I was planning on recovering a unit from another car and attempting to swap only the cassette. If your dealer did it then It must be possible.

Thanks
