The Air bag warning light has come on on my mk2 Ibiza. It's always on whenever the engine is running... I've heard that BMW have a fault where the warning light comes but it just needs resetting by BMW. Probabaly just another way of getting money out of you because i hear it costs £100 to fix.

Does anyone know if SEAT's have the same fault? I know i should take it to SEAT to get it checked but money's a bit tight at the min so was looking for cost effective ways of fixing it. Any ideas? Has this happened to anyone else? My Ibiza has done 100k so it's doubtful it will have happened one a car with less millage than this...

Cheers guys.

No idea if this is a common problem, but i do know that if an MOT tester spots it on the dash, its an instant failure there too. You could cover it with a black sticker so its 'hidden' but for your own peace of mind, you should still check whether the air bag is working or not. Any reputable garage should be able to let you know if its ok or not

I had it on my old 1.4 and that only had 70k on the clock at the time. Turned out that some sort of seal around the air bag needed replacing. I think it was about £100.

Thats a bit steep.
Mines been on now for a while, about 3 months, but ill have to deal with the light before my MOT in January, or get the seal done, but for £100 i may have to destroy the light, lol

Not sure if it will be a failure, have a friend who is a tester and told me it was an advisory. On my cupra iv just discaonnected the light, use a screwdriver to lightly ease the light/housing out then disconnect the plug. Iv done it on mine as im preparing a rally car and have fitted a new steering wheel and removed the airbag.

Simple. :D

Yeah sorted mine last night by taking the switch out easy two second job, and the annoying red light is sorted now, but will get it looked at possibly end of the month.

Cheers
