hmmm can u hear it outside the car or is it inside? because if you press hard on the peddle you can hear the turbo spool up which is like sucking air.............

Mine does the same thing if its a small squeak, you can get it to do it if you feather the accelerator pedal. I'm looking into mine at the moment, done 5000 miles now.

Common problem on the Golf GT etc, its the clutch on the super charger slipping. If you activate the coupling with diagnostics it stops for a short while.

Might be a completely different thing, but i had mine in for a whistling noise, and they said it was the seal on my right wing mirror (because of the cold). They resealed it and the noise went. They also said it had been a common problem with ibizas over the last few months because of the chilly weather.

Hello,

I haven't got an Ibiza but have a Scirocco with the 1.4 engine and am a mod over on Scirocco Central. The whistling noise is really common - apparently it's something to do with the magnetic clutch for the supercharger - VW have been working on replacemnets for it but non of the versions have cured the problem. Apparently it's not a damaging problem just an annoyance.
