Alright all,

Now at a point where im wanting gauges, decided on 2 gauges in the a-pillar for a starter. Boost and oil pressure i think are the two worth having

Question is.......whats the difference/advantage of mechanical over electrical oil pressure gauges or vice versa? or is oil temp the better of the two oils to go for

Ive found a gauge which i think will be a great match that i havent seen mentionned here before so long as i can find a red bulb to back light it with might go for it, otherwise ill be going with the trusty autometer phantoms.

Cheers

Rik

I think that the electrical gauges have a remote electrical sender that you fit somewhere in your oil system, a signal is then sent up the sender wire to signal your gauge.
A mechanical gauge needs a pipe etc to be tapped into your oil system and then the oil comes all the way to the gauge to be read for temp or pressure, so could be messy.
This isn't a problem with a mechanical turbo boost gauge as you are only reading air pressure, so it can't make a mess.
This is my understanding of it not sure if it is 100% correct.
