hi im running a 1997 ibiza 1.4 sxe (aex engine) having a few problems with the throttle at idle and when changing up heres the symptoms:

start up seems ok but in idle when its given a little blip of throttle the engine seems to go down by about 100rpm as if its going to die then it kicks in and revs up,theres a good 2second delay, also under the bonnet when you give it some you can hear a whoosh as air is sucked in but it doesnt seem to want to respond until 2seconds later, theres definately a noticable delay,it only happens from idle and responds instantly if reving from say 2000-3000.theres also a tiny delay when changing up and down until the power comes on,so i have to almost power shift to get rid of it. any help would be greatly appreciated.

this is what ive tried already: complete new ignition parts plugs,HTs,dist cap, rotor,(not coil tho)
Cleaned throttle body bore with carb cleaner, used injector/fuel cleaner in tank, new air fillter, oil and filter change, checked breather and vac hoses

cleaning the throttle body was a good idea. Forget the ignition components

Your idle stepper motor isnt doing its job properly. From memoy its part of the throttle body on the AEX engine you have. If a good clean doesnt solve it, pull the throttle body off a polo or ibiza in a breakers yard. Easy
