advice on painting bump strips

hi all i have a bog standard leon but i want to improve how it looks on a very limited budget bcz of huge tax and insurance costs but my car is goin in next wednesday to have some rust spots sorted under the rear passenger door seal and i was thinking of gettin the black bump strips painted heres a pic looking for ur advice guys would it do any thing for the car cant afford cupra r front and rear bumper at the mo

When my car was going in for a bit of a paint touch up I decided to get the side black strips colour coded and it does turn out to be a good job...I know when I'm driving along and I see a standard Leon completely colour coded it does stand out so yea why not mate sure go for it!

Just make sure though you get the whole lot colour coded i.e. front/rear bumpers and all round black strips because there's nothing worse really than seeing bits done and not the rest like a Bora that be's around my area.

I know the front/rear strips are very easily done as they ust click in and out so its very easy to put them back in and I think the bumpers should be easily put back to place but the side strips are a real handling...they are glued in so you have to rip them off, get all the glue off the car, sand down the back of the strips and once painted glue back on...a mate of mine did all my spraying and he told me that he's never put side strips back on that has stayed on but luckily for me mine was the first lol!!

thanks for reply think ill get it done the repair garage its going into does all the repairs for my local seat garage so im sure they will be able to do a good job should be well used of mk1 leons by now, im goin to get all done except the black lower grills seen a car locally with that done looked horrible, thanks for advice will post pics when its done

No probs at all mate! Oh I see what you mean and yea I totally back you on that decision I didn't actually mean the whole bumper ooops my bad lol!

Never actually seen any with those black bits done too but by god it must be horrendous lol

well just an update got the little patch of rust sorted on car very impressed by work, got a quote for full colour coding 400e which im happy with several custom bodywork places here in ireland that do jus horrible mods to cars were quoting 600e so car is booked in but gonna be 3 weeks there so busy

also might be of interest my 01 leon has smooth bump strips all round from searching previous posts i think most leons have the orange peel effect, so at least my labour costs are down
