Hi All,

New here preivuous Seat owner. Im looking at pulling the trigger on an 18 plate Cupra 300 DSG ive looked at it twice and overally happy with it but it has 103k miles. The service history is generally pretty good with a gap at around 50k but then serviced regularly every year. the MOT checker shows an average of 20k miles a year.

Is there anything i should be looking out for?

I appriciate your feedback.

Thanks
Adam

Hey.

Something I've always tried to mention to people after having a cupra for about 7 years, with 53k on the clock check the history to see if you can find out if the thermostat housing and water pump have been changed and when.

Underlying suspicion after some research that there is a common fault on the ea888 engines with the housing failing, mine melted with no real warning after about 2.5 years and 23k miles.

Dealer replaced mine under warrenty but not the water pump which is next to it, so used the same seals etc cos only the housing was covered.

It then failed outside warranty and cost nearly £1000 to fix as you have to strip down to access side of engine.

So it's something to keep a lookout for.

Aside from that upto now engine has been rock solid.

Give the aircon a test too make sure it works and see if you can see any damage to the radiator just behind the front grill. , have just had to replace ac condenser radiator due to some stone damage and corrosion. That also is expensive in labour to replace.

A few cabin squeaks and rattles starting to appear now.

Don't let the above put you off though, lovely cars and really fun to drive.

Happy driving.
