Advice for anyone getting a creaking noise from the rear parcel shelf area

My first official post (other than my welcome one)!.

Picked up a new Exeo Saloon Sport Tech 140 in mid/late December. So far i've done 800 miles and generally loved the car. However from about 200 miles onwards, i've been hearing a creaking noise (and a really annoying one at that) coming from the rear. Over a few weeks and a couple of trips with me in the back and the wife driving (only time she's been allowed to drive it ;) ), i worked out it was actually coming from the piece of trim that the OSR passenger seat belt dissappears into.

Despite the wife insisting she couldn't hear the noise and that i was obsessing over nothing - it went back to the dealer today (Snows, Portsmouth).

Turns out there is a small metal clip between the parcel shelf and the piece of trim i was referring to. This clip hadn't been seated correctly, and as i travelled over rough roads or bumps - was squeaking / creaking against either the parcel shelf or plastic trim. So - clip reseated, and noise has gone!

Anyone experiencing the same sort of noise should maybe have a look in that area. It was driving me mental - i can't stand any kind of interior rattles having driven a Jag for the past 5 years, bar 3 months in a Citroen DS3 that basically just rattled from every corner....

Now i'm back to a smooth ride and very quiet running. Though i do love the sound of the Bose system, and the new VAG CR engines sound pretty good too!

Mine does the same, but I've never got round (remembered) to look at it once I've parked. Does my head in as well.

I'll investigate and report back. Thanks for the info.

Mine did the same thing, it took WJKings in Bromley 2 visits to sort it out properly.
First visit i thought they had fixed it, but after 20 minutes it started coming back, luckily second visit its been ok so far after 2500 miles.
Makes a world of difference as i hate repetitive noises like that! :)

Mine was definitely a creaking noise - and actually if you pressed the piece of trim (where the belt dissappears into), when stationary obviously, you could actually replicate the same noise. Sounded a bit like having a mouse that was significantly injured but not yet dead somewhere in there lol

100 miles done since and the noise hasn't come back so looks good so far.

I still get the odd clicky kind of noise from the parcel shelf area - but not enough that i think will cause me concern.
