ok guys...search has helped, but still not 100% sure.

My actuator behind the main block has not been touched. Car is running .5 bar and i was told yesterday that by shortening the rod by turning the bolts, i will gain a higher boost.

Is this true? and if i send the ecu in to Limp mode, is it a costly trhing to get sorted. I'm wanting to learn about the engine before going too far with it.

cheers

You can do it if you want mate, it's your car.

At the end of the day the ECU has the final say on what boost the car should produce, if the delivered boost deviates (whether it be too much or too little) from the requested boost then your car will throw a fault code and your car will be limited to 5psi (known as limp mode). Most of the time limp mode can be reset by turning the engine off and then back on again.

If you want more boost then do it properly and get a remap.

ok, so say i did it 1 full turn and it made a difference.

Any problems are easily rectified no?!? An ecu reset could sort the limp mode prob then twist the nuts back!?

surely?!

and is the car set to run the most boost that the ecu can handle?

ok.

thanks for your insight guys. I'm guessing it's tried and tested, which is exactly why i asked.

Forbz, you're right mate.

My thoughts are as follows. the actuator will be un touched. As i've just put a forge dv in, i was just getting itchy feet!!!!! I will stick to my plan of

green panel filter.

Make sure you go for a full turbo back exhaust!

You'd be wise to listen to these guys... playing with the actuator will only cause you issues. Even more so if you then go and get it remapped as well.

Yep, cat back is really only for aesthetics... the standard downpipe and CAT is very restrictive so you see a decent gain from going for a turbo back.
I'd look at Milltek stuff personnally!
