Someone drove up the back of me last yesterday. No great shock, seems to happen about every 4 years to me so I was due one.

The question is, should I insist that the car is fixed by Seat (it's only minor damage)? I ask this in relation to a third party spraying up a new bumper and this then meaning that I'd not have any claim under warantee if the paint work was to become defective?

Having said that, I appreicate that with two years left on the warantee, it's unlikely that newly sprayed plasitc bumper would cause me any problems in that time.

Thanks :)

I would definately insist that it was done by a SEAT dealer or a SEAT approved repairer.

As far as I know it would invalidate the paint warrenty on the bumper at the very least. Also if the bumper developed a fault, SEAT could be funny over replacing it.

I currently have a Toyota Celica (until Saturday) and had some paint work done when it was a few days old due to the odd scratch hear and there. Originally they were going to do a smart repair until the bodyshop manager pointed out this would invalidate the paint warrenty, so they did a full spray of the effected areas.

Also if I was you, I would want to make sure the colour was 100% match and getting SEAT to do it is the best bet.

Hope that this helps.

def get a seat approved place, my brother was taken to Vaux garage for his MK5 Golf and they made a 'James Hunt' of it! badly sprayed by Stevie Wonder even managed to blow the stereo and leave airbags discon and best of all handed the car back in limp mode, car had to be taken to a VW garage and it took a month to get it sorted.
