As per title, there seems to be a rattle jingerling noise when i accelerate and it gets louder and quicker the faster i go it only does it when in gear? and nothing at all when in neaturel, does any one have any ideas what it could be? sounds like it could be coming from the drivers side of the engine as well.

Mine does the rattly exhaust. Used to be at 3k rpm in any gear now its anywhere in the rev range....... particularly annoying when it starts and your stationery in traffic :( Once the car is warmed up nothing stops the exhaust except a 2 min switch off and then back on.
I am referring to the exhaust heatshield by the way !

its the sheid around the down pipe.
you need to get under the car, rear of engine driver side, theres a sheild aorund the exhaust downpipe. Thats the c**t which always rattles.
its down to wear n tear at the end of the day.

Strictly speaking I think its only required for when the car is really hot and for example your sat in traffic in the summer..... it'll prevent a fire or roasting the nearest parts of the cars body/chasis.
Mine is coming off as soon as I can be pestered to remove it, although I do wonder how much a new one would be ? Anyone help out on the part code ?

Personally, i don't think a new one will work or last any longer than the original.

I am going to fix a cir-clip around mine and tighten it as tight as possible to stop it from rattling at all.

i took my heat sheild off around the down pipe because of it rattling,no probs since

It's best to get the heat shield on the downpipe spot wealded if it's rattling. I've seen a couple of vids of cars catching fire that have had it removed!

Only remove the heatshield under the car would be my advice

its been off the car for about a year and a half and it was roling roaded with out it,the exhoust was glowing and no fires.one thing that did burn once was the rubber boot between the steering rack and steering column, but that was when i first had the car and the down pipe heat sheild was on then
