Accelerater pedal faults

Hi,

I have a Seat Ibiza 1.2 petrol. Its 3 years old and was serviced and MOT'ed about 2 weeks ago, just as i bought it. Its been working great, but last night i changed from 4th gear to 3rd, and the accelerator did nothing, no revs at all. so put it back in 4th and away it went. i got home fine, but then realised that the EPC (accelerator pedal fault) light was on. Now it just won't go. It revs when stationary, but as soon as u put it in gear it keeps cutting out and u end up having to change the gear and banging the clutch up to start it, as its rolling. The light as gone off ( about 24hours later) but the problem is still there. All the fuses are fine. It was fueled about a week ago and has done just over 60 miles since, on that tank. Could it be dodgy fuel, of something to do with the fueling system.

Anyone have any ideas wats wrong, and roughly how much it will cost to have repaired.

Thanks

if you open the throttle (pedal down) is your actual throttle opening?
(you will need to remove airfilter assembly to see it)

Doubt its anything to do with your fuel, more likely to be an electrical problem, is the 1.2 drive by wire? Could be the microswithch on the accelerator pedal if it is???

Yea, you where spot on, it was the microswitch. I took it to a garage and they plugged it into the diagnostic computer, and thats wat it came up with.

Was considering buying a diagnostic computer for my car so if anything else goes wrong in the future (hopefully not) I'll no exactly wat it is. Anyone no where the socket is for plugging it in, and is it a 16-pin socket

Thanks

VAG-COM is your friend :)

Any more questions - ask about it in the vag-com forum on here. Loads of people use it, and the guy from Ross-Tech answers questions in there too.

Forgot to add - it's a standard diagnostic connector, and it's behind the little flimsy cubby just below and to the right of the steering wheel. You have to pivot the cubby thing forward and pull it out - et voila, there is the connector.

How do u get the cabby out, once its pivoted out, is there clips at the side or something.

and its a 16-pin connector, cos I saw somewhere that it was a 2x2 connector

Definitely 16 pin OBD connector. I think the 2x2 connector was only used years ago (Ross-Tech sell adaptor leads for 2x2 connectors on old cars)

From memory I think you pivot the cubby thing forwards, then just kinda yank it out
