Abs

Hi, i haven't really used this forum as much as i really should but i have a question.

Does anyone elses Leon Cupra's abs seem to kick in far too easily? mine seems to come in as soon as my braking is slightly harder than normal, it really annoys me because it doesn't need to be this sensitive. Should i get i checked out or is this normal? Thanks in advance

If it's not the road conditions that are causing the abs to kick in early, check you tyre pressures. Sometimes having tyre pressures that are too high can cause the tyres to lose grip earlier leading to the abs kicking in earlier. I had this problem when i first got my car.

Also what kind of tyres do you have on your cupra, cheap budget tyres also won't help.

ok thanks. I'm going to check out the tyre pressures when i go to the petrol station tomorrow. Obviously the road conditions at the minute are making it worse but its been going on since early summer. Running on Goodyear efficient grips so it shouldn't be because of budget tyres. Once again, thanks for the advice.

Also seeing the Cupra is a performance car, running economy or efficient tyres isn't ideal tbh. These will have slightly less grip than performance tyres e.g. Goodyear Eagle F1 assy, Michelin Pilot Sport etc. The difference isn't noticable in normal driving, but once your pressing on near the limits the difference is fairly marked.

Ok thanks for that. I was told by the tyre fitters that these were the best for my car and provide the best all round grip. I can't afford to change them yet but when it is time i'll look into performance tyres. Thanks again. I'm going to check out the pressures now.

I was thinking the same about my ABS. I have the FR TDI with 17inch wheels. On my way home from work, on the approach to a corner there is a hole. If i hit this hole while on the brakes my ABS cuts in an i almost over shoot the junction. This weekend on the snow i felt the ABS was way to sensitive for the conditions. Anyone any help?

hmmm...checked the pressures and they are fine. I suppose its time to book in at the dealers. Thanks for the help.
