ABS & TCS Problems

Hello,

I'm fairly new on here only had my cupra on the road for about 6 weeks!

Anyway, got a problem with the ABS and TCS systems on the car, basically both lights are on. The TCS system doesn't work at all, the car brakes fine though not sure if ABS is on or not, i'v not anchored up hard due to the lights being on!

After searching posts and cleaning and inspecting front ABS sensors i took it to a local garage with a generic snap-on code reader. The bloke at the garage said it only gives a return code, i.e. when moving not a permanent code even though lights are on all the time!

He said it could be the ABS ECU or a damaged wire around the ABS module. Obviously i dont want bills into the 100's if it can be avoided, so was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the problems? :)

Cheers

also check the fuses ontop of the battery, make sure they haven't melted at all

thats when my lights first started coming on, after one fuse melted

but yea , as above, more than likely maf

Cheers lads.

Hoping it's something simple like the MAF or Fuse box. Will it come up on the diagnostics whatever the fault is?, cos i'm thinking of having it done to save me shelling out 80 spot on a MAF to then have to spend another few £££ on an ABS module or whatever.

I'v noticed the fuse box is abit melted around the very end 30A fuse, the fuse still comes out but the plastic is a bit damaged, but i wouldnt think it would affect owt as the fuse blade is still intackt (sp!)

Anyone know of any decent specialists to read the fault code in the Midlands area?

Thanks for any responses!

Yeah the fuse box on top of the battery

Not too bad though. Doubt it will cause this particular fault code, although i could be wrong, it has been known!

Might just bypass it with a fuse holder just to see if i cures it, if it does get a new un'.

Origionally i thought ABS sensor but now i'm thinking probly MAF, as said above, cos the car came with a Dynatwist filter which i had to make a braket for (as it wasnt fitted too well and moved the maf around alot as it was not secured at all!
