it sounds a bit crazy but when you turn the ignition on does your key come back round as it should ?

only on very very rare occasions my key hadnt come back round and i had every warning light on the dash light up.....engine, abs, fuel, hand brake....they all came on.

when i pulled over i just nudged the key and they all went out.

Mine does the exact same thing... exactly the same. Don't have a clue what's wrong with it but it doesn't have any effect on the brakes whatsoever.

my handbrake light does the same, was just about to start a thread, been doing it since i had the car!

i have the mk3 centre though, so i think it just has a lose switch or something?

theres only 2 real connections for it to fail at...
down at the hand brake, and in the engine bay on the fluid reservoir...

unplug the reservoir plug and see if it does it...

if it does youve found your problem with the plug/switch...
otherwise its down at the handbrake switch :D

Thats handbrake light btw... i just took my ABS light bulb out :)

my handbrake light stays on too....fitted a new handbrake switch, no change - haven't really checked the fluid reservoir lid properly yet. I noticed that every now & then the light would go out, but at the same time I'd get a noise coming from the front nearside - same noise that you get when the ABS system kicks in (funny knocking/grinding/buzzing sound). Couldn't tell if it was from under the dash or in the engine bay - anyone got any ideas? Is there an ECU/brain in that area of the car that might be at fault?

took the plug off the brake fluid resiv and made no diffrence messed about with the handbrake switch made no difference so its onto my mates digonostic machine friday night when the boss is away he seems to think its one fo 2 things abs sensor or the abs rings on the disc as some discs dont come with the rings so thats one of the reasons it throws up the warning lights al let you no how a get on:seatgod:

The ABS ring is separate to the disc.

And it's "I" and "I'll", not "a" or "al".
