ABS light comes on with a 'gritty' feeling under the pedal

Driving home a few times, i have been braking and it feels like theres grit between the pads and discs, which you can feel thru the pdeal. (there is no grit BTW) Once this happens, everytime the ABS light comes on?

Ive just bought a vagcom lead and ill be getting the software soon, but does anyone know what may be the problem here?

Its been happening since i bought the car, and theres receipts for 'a' sensor being changed in the service history

when you read the error code it'll tell you which sensor is faulty and whether it's intermittent or not

im not sure how to describe it, when the lights on when i try and lock up it feels gritty but only intermittant as you would expect from the abs coming on and off, but when its off, im sure it works as it should, ie: you can feel the car juddering slightly when it should be skidding (where the abs is activating and deactivating the brakes)

fairly new discs and pads... im gonna give vagcom a try and see. One of the sensors has been changed according to the receipts i have as ive only had the car a month... or so.
Ill see what if anything vagcom brings up... i tried doind an emergencu stop today and all seemed fine, got a bit of the gritty feeling but no ABS light?

Well see, ill post my findings when i get vagcom sorted :D

I don't think the ABS light is meant to come on. Or at least it doesn't on mine. When I slam on my brakes in the wet, the pedal has a gritty pulse feeling. That is the ABS working. But the light doesnt come on. It should only come on when there is something wrong. In the instruction manual it says that when the orange ABS light comes on you should stop driving it and take it to the stealership. (same with the Battery and Oil lights).

If the cars have been lowered then it is possible that the abs wiring under the wings to the sensor are too long allowing rubbing of the wires.
This could be causing a short, which would cause the light to come on.

Had this problem on mine where the wiring was fouling the wheels on full steering lock.
Tore the wiring clean off eventually!

Can i just point out that i know the ABS light isnt meant to come on :D lol.... i keep reading advising its not meant to be on ;)

Im going to check it out tomorrow i might even buy the sensor and give it a change... if its an easy enough job to do, ill have to ask haynes about that one.

Tried to delete the code incase it just hadnt been deleted since having it done, but it came back
