ABS / ESP Fault

Hi all

I have an intermittent fault on the ABS / ESP system which puts the middle 3 lights on the dash on (red warning triangle, abs and traction control).

It appears to coincide with when it is cold (or damp) so is most of the time at the moment!

It's been in the dealers 3 times with no fault found and they have reset. The last time they suggested if the fault persisted they change the controller (£800) although they couldn't promise this would fix it!!!!!!

Any suggestions or previous experience of similar gratefully received as I son't want to shell out this sort of money on a 'maybe'.

Cheers, M.

Not going to work best for me as I'm in between Cambridge and Chelmsford! Thanks anyway...

I'm interested to hear of that problem - I have a similar situation whereby ABS light comes on intermittently, and it also seems to be coinciding with cold weather. Front disks were changed about 4 months ago, but still had the fault a couple of times since then.
Did you find a solution?
Thanks,
Phil

if its a damp issue it might be worth using di-electric grease on any connector associated within the system.

i had arching problems inside the maf connector causing surging when started from cold, as the car warmed up the surging stopped. the grease prevents any moisture getting close to the contacts and it sorted it out.

i havnt had your problem but its were id start if i thought it was damp related.

I've tested each of the resistances for the wheel sensors, disconnecting them and measuring across all seem consistent there. I've tried contact cleaner in the connectors without success. Am now thoroughly fed up with it!!!!

It's currently into the eshop as someones granny ran into the side of it turning into our road at a tee junction (how?) but when its back from that I'm going to try another dealers and see if that getes me anywhere!
