Morning Peeps

Am i right in saying the dashboard from a Mk1 A3 would be a direct replacement for a Cupra R and has anyone done this mod?

Ta!

yeh, not sure why you would do that? Unless yours is badly damaged and you have found a very cheap A3 dash...

Only thing that bugs me is the rat-tat-tat plastic quality of the R's interior. I know thats why they're cheaper than the equivalent VW / Audi's of the time and it shows here.

Plus, i thought it might make a nice, insurance neutral mod. People seem to be putting A3 vents in their motors, why not just take it to the next level?

Top of the dash is exactly the same AFAIK, the bottom parts of the dash are made from different plastics, but TBH it doesn't feel any different quality wise, just different grain.

If you do it Lenny I'll have your Leon dash :D

That's what I thought - so just the glovebox and steering wheel lowers to change then...

I *thought* that these were the same shape etc, but are deffo higher quality materials.

The grain pattern is different on the LCR and the A3/S3 dashes, i have one at home and would look weird as the Audi lines seem to flow rather than the seats block pattern

I'msure the centre consoles are different materials as well. Could you then feasibly change the centre console only for A3 version?

Glove box WILL fit I did it, you get bigger box with hidden section inside but airbag switch will not fit and if you swap lid to keep it looking the same you lose soft damped effect and lid just flops open! i did mine quickly but with more time and thought you may, repeat may, be able to sort the above but grain is very different and would look bit odd and mismatched if door/lid from a3 was used.

and u dont think a A3 dash would start to rattle alot of dash rattles come from wiring blocks, wires and th dash actually havin a slight flex and give in so it can knock against the frame of car and the other attached parts
