Bilston.
Well folks, its my Ibiza third birthday in 3 weeks time and in 3 weeks time it will be three continual years trying to get seat to fix the wind noise coming form my drivers side door.

Heres whats been done so far.

Inner window seal
out window seal
wing mirror replaced.
wing mirror housing replaced
various holes in the door filled

Now my question to you all is what should i do next. I'm sick to death with going to and from seat for this problem they clearly dont know what it is and to be frank I dont think they've actually taken the car for a drive to understand where the noise comes from. I'm considering complaining directly to seat its not really the dealerships fault ibiza are badly made but i'm wondering whetehr theres any point? I love and yet hate my ibiza, I dont want to have to get rid of it just because in the last 3 years its been into the garage no less than 12 times fro various warrenty work.

As always thanks in advance.

I have got a 56 plate ibiza and i too experience the wind noise and only from the drivers side door, I have noticed that there is a small gap just too small to fit a pen in between the dashboard and the front driver's door panel when it is fully shut.

The seals on the door seem to be fine with no problem at all. Does anyone else have this small gap between dashboard and door?

Many thanks.

Yep, I get this too on mine, it doesn't bother me too much though as mine isn't too bad.

Hi All,

Has anyone ever got to the bottom of the drivers door wind noise? My 07 Ibiza FR does it and its driving me mad! Dealers as ever seem to be deaf to it... [:@]

Cheers,

On my 03 plate also. Told an independent VAG garage when i took it in for a service, and they tighten something to pull the door in more?

Made it a little better, but still happens, tbh i just don't let it bother me, put the music up is the best, and cheapest way to sort it.

Well seat technical are now involved... which (surpirse surprise) isnt what normally happens when you go to a dealer.... they just let the deleaers grease monkey deal with it in whatever way they see as best.

Not too shocking.... however.... my car ran out of warranty, and seat now tell me that even though the problem was never fixed during its time of being under warranty, its tough **** and I have to pay for any repairs they suggest to resolve the issue.

Not too happy you can imagine, however, does the consumer goods act protect me as the car was sold with the defect and is thus not fit for purpose... i dunno just venting i guess but if you take your car in again ask themto check with seat technical.

Given the number of threads people have posted here and elsewhere about the drivers door noise I can't believe SEAT haven't released a recall fix.

I love everything else about the car so far - need to resolve this

Yeah i tryed to get the noise stopped on my 58 plate Ecomotive, because its designed for motorway driving and most of my driving involes visiting friends in Lincolnshire and Nottingham its beginning to get a little bit annoying when i dont have the MP3 player pumping through the sterio. Getting quite annoying also. They said that they couldnt find anything wrong with it......

I'm fancying having a crack this myself.

i mean if its not a mechanical failure, ie the doors not alligned properly, then somign thing somehwere has a hole/gap/weak seal thats allowing air to rush through at higher speed.

Just need a break down of the door removal, door card off, window out, seals out.

I'll see what seat technical come back with - not that I'm holding my breath on that front either.

if it's easily replicated by a blast up the road and back then time to get the gaffer tape out but do one thing at a time and test but if you have had new seals and door alignment etc then look further out and reshape stuff with the tape if non removeable but work in arms length to the driver in ALL directions:

check the mirror or remove it completely see if that helps

windscreen seals/ roof moulding

rear door and moulding

bonnet gaps/headlamp gaps

just drivers side noise i'd cover fuel flap and test that too

the air is rushing into the car from front at a fair speed so could be blowing in from a grommet in the bulkhead or anything
