A few MORE questions!

Getting annoying with all my questions but im sure it will benefit many more Cupra owners!

(I actually searched for something earlier, and found a post by MYSELF in 2005 telling me the answer - how odd is that? )

Anyway, i've searched and there isn't any concrete answers to the following, so I think we can answer them all in one thread.
A lot of the subjects are spoken about but the questions below are not answered in them.

1) Do people REMOVE the standard air feed in the wing? Assuming, say a Jetex filter is fitted.
Do they remove it totally, have nothing there, or replace it with a better feed?

2) How do you change the power steering fluid - is it a case of just undoing the pipe that is at the bottom of the reservoir, draining it out, then pipe back in and top up til the level is correct?

3) Im going to change more hosing, Philw & Reuvers have been particularly helpful in this field, basically, the rubber pipes going into inlet manifold, and to the boost pipe, 63mm ones, I was going to change BUT;

Is it worth buying a universal FMIC (just plan to stick with current power which is circa 200bhp)
As replacing those pipes with corect joins etc, is going to cost nearly as much as a fitting kit for a FMIC, plus the FMIC only an extra £90.

The FMIC isn't going to be Forge standard by any means, but surely its better than the standard IC at a cost, and for no aim of much more power than I currently have surely it'd do a job...

(On the other hand a local mechanic told me the other day if sticking around the 200bhp region there is no need to replace the Standard IC as temps don't get hot enough as the turbo is winding down at the higher RPM) One persons view, so thought i'd ask the forum...

So for me it is not a case of saving for a Forge FMIC, I won't be getting one, it's more a question of sticking with the standard and upgrading the pipework, or getting the Uni FMIC.

Thats enough from me ( I will be posting pictures of finished work this weekend as the engine bay has been transformed with all these little mods!)

Thanks in advance for your time :)

1) its personal choice if they remove it and put in a better feed i havent yet but i may do when remaped. 3) again personal choice some people hate the uni fmic some people have it fitted and like it and again my choice is im going to be getting one once remaped because anything is better than the standard unit IMO. The forge one is excelent but i dont like the look as much as the uni one basically there no right or wrong way to do any mods its individual taste.

sean, undo the one bolt on the airfeed, on the right wing (from front of car) think its a 10mm. Then you;ll have to remove the battery (I did because it makes it much easier). Then just give the feed a good yank and it will come right out. You'll then see its an absolute shite feed. Very narrow and really going nowhere close to proper cold air.

Then just get a black hose, something like the ones you use for a dryer. Run that all the way to the bottom of the bumper and you;re done. DV should sound much better after that.

The IC, its all up to you. I guess the mechanic wasn't wrong, as the IC can take those temps, but in summer under full load for longer period you will get much more heat soak. As I also find an FMIC part of the image of the car, I say do it.

The don't know the kits that come with them so don't know what you;ll need to buy extra.
But, I am pretty sure it doesn't come with the 45 degree bend on the throttle.

Hey guys, thank you for helpful replies, I'll look at that airfeed this Friday as it's a job I can do quickly and cheaply, whilst sorting out the rest of the pipework.

I think ultimately I will get a FMIC, but I seem to be spiralling out of control with spending recently! So I will uprate the pipework down that area, and then look to get the FMIC perhaps in a few months when i've paid off the rest of the stuff being done - at least that way it's half ready for the FMIC.

I probably would have got the FMIC this week - but the starter motor needs replacing so thats taken the funds for that one! Booo! :(
