A/C pump not cutting in

had an air con service done on my cupra last week but they said the pump (or compressor?) wasnt cutting in, they did a diagnostic check and it said the outside air temp guage was faulty so i replaced the 1 which they said it was under the scuttle below the windscreen but the fault still exists and the air temp gauge on the display either reads "-.--" or something crazy like "-40":banghead2

is there another air temp gauge in the front bumper like VW's have which could be at fault?
has anyone else had this problem?

thanks in advance

Will most probably be the pressure sensor for the air con system. (by the abs pump)... Basically, if it dosent sense pressure in the system, it thinks its empty and stops the compressor running as it would seize if it was empty.

the temp gauge you need to replace is on the wingmirror on passenger side, thats what is defo causing your a/c to stop working.

thanks for the replys

i never realised there was a temp sensor in the passengers mirror! every day is a school day.

if it isnt that what does the pressure sensor next to the abs pump look like?

cheers

in fact i'm over your way on the weekend, if you get the part i dont mind having a look for you, as its normally the wires going into the sensor that rust up and stop it working. The part you get should come with new wires too, so its a simple case of cutting the old one out and crimping in the new one

its that easy?! i asked the guy if it was an easy job and he said "nope, you've got to take the mirror off strip it down and remove all the wires, its really fiddly" i thought its only a mirror but i guess he's the expert....

thats very kind of you to offer to do that, id take you up on it but its got to be done during the week as its not going to be around at the weekend but thank you all the same
