98 Ibiza 1.9T ( new build )

Thought i would share with you some details of a car im building specifically for strip use. Its a scruffy looking 1998 Seat Ibiza Cupra GTi 2.0 8v - the car is very solid, a little tatty in places but nothing that cant be sorted. Cost £400 and i bought it off a Farmer in Cumbria ( still trying to get rid of the smell of cow sh1t from the inside !!! )

I purchased an AGU mechanical front end complete with gearbox, shafts, loom etc etc for £750 which i thought was a good deal. Wont be using the loom though.

The bottom end has since been split and the block was sent away for machining and came back 100cc bigger with a set of J & E forged pistons and integrated engineering steel rods fitted. Crank was reworked with oversized bearings fitted. The heads are good for silly HP as youre all aware.

Planning on running either a GT29 / GT30 with a self built / fabricated manifold and some bosch big reds. DTA will be managing the set up ( considering Emerald ?? ) with Ric Wood of Manchester mapping the set up for me. Aiming for in excess of 425 hp ( yes its gonna be 2wd but with race logic traction control / LSD and slicks )

The shell will be getting stripped to save weight - the car will be road legal but will mainly be used for work on the strip. Its going Satin Black for the Rat look.

Done a few VAG build before including the infamous Clio TT ( ran late 11's ) and a good pal of mine is Paul Jordan ( MK1 Scirocco Storm 10.1's ) so we have a bit of an idea what were doing.

Will keep you updated with pics once ive done the required 15 posts - Cheers

GT turbo is an interesting choice from what i have read.

You seem to know what you are doing though, looking forward to reading more progress.
