8v Cupra has failed Mot. Help

Front Brake Pad less than 1.5mm thick

Nearside rear brake disc excessively scored

Offside rear brake disc excessively scored.

Rear exhaust has a mounting that does not fully support the exhaust system. Basically a rubber thingy has broken.

Kwik Fit have quoted me £210 for the work if done withing 10 days. Is this expensive?

well parts would probably total to around £90 max and £120 for labour in this case which aint too bad, guessin you get retest for free as well.

Personally me id do it myself its all pretty easy but depends on your experience or whether you got cheap mates who know more than you bout mechanics!!!

If I do do it myself I really don't know where to start to be honest. Haynes manual, what tools and where to get the pads from

ATS Euromaster quoted me around the same price.

decent back street garages will get you back on the road for a lot less

I changed my own brakes on all 4 corners.. It's really not that hard And I'm a girl who had never done it before.

As for exhaust rubber thats easy enough too.

Ask around your friends and that for a good but cheap garage if you dont want to do it yourself.

Get the parts from a motor factors or something like that. x

I think a SEAT dealer could fix it for less than that!

One of my friends was quoted £360 for rear discs and pads from National, I did the work for £60.

Yeh like mork said take it local mechanics. Not the big rip you off names.
I had to learn the hard way after getting raped for parts and labour lol.

Also what does "Offside inner c v Boot split" mean? This was an advisory.

it's one of the rubber boots that protects the end of the driveshaft (the Constant Velocity Joint), which is greased, from getting covered in dirt from the road and wearing the joint out.

If you do nothing, you will start to hear clunking noises that tell you the CV is knackered.

If the joint is in good condition, you could just change the boot, or you could change the whole joint (as the driveshaft has to come out anyway) while you're there.

Is that price including the test? If so pretty good. I was £240 to get my car through MOT thanks to a broken front spring (£50 a spring for the gti?!).

you can get your driveshafts reconditioned, which would save you money.

they will be quoting for two sets of pads, (front and back) new rear disks and then a bit for the exhaust bracket.

so the labour may be a bit less than said above, as i sure they will charge ott for the parts.

you dont have to have the work done there. i think its normally 7 days if you get work done elsewhere, 10 days if done there. (free retest if done within these times).
