Hi im new to this site i am looking to buy a cupra. Do you think that 80,000 mile on a 2001 plate is to much. I know if its looked after properly then it should be ok but im more worried about hte turbo, how long do they usually last.

I currently have a 52 (2003) plate LC - of which I have just passed 68k miles.

Car is going strong (touch wood). I look after it, get it serviced every 4 months due to the mileage I do, and its all good :)

80k on mine and still going strong, and about to get a shot of 300bhp too so hopefully there good for over 100,000miles... if not I gues i'll be rebuilding and engine soon.

Mine's at 86k, as above I expect to see in 100k+, but accept that after 6/7 years rubber parts will begin to perish (vacuum hoses!) and small metal sensors will begin to throw up the odd error (engine temperature sensor)

....each of which is easily replaced (and very cheap!) so long as you keep on top of it and keep in mind that it's a fundamentally reliable car, when maintained as such.

Bought my 51 reg cupra with 24,000 miles on it, whilst I was looking there were lots of cupras with there or thereabouts mileage, check that it has FSH and you should be fine.

What price they asking?

i've clocked up over 10k since may and its going ok, just make sure its been looked after as in regular oil changes, services etc. check that things like the cambelt have been changed at 60k as well....

thanks for your replies guys i was just a bit worried because i now what puntos are like and wanted to make surethat they werent the same. Ive found one that looks quite tidy on 71k £3600 but it needs a cambelt change and service but its in sheffield which is a very long way from me.

mines on 78k and no problems really ever replaced cambelt etc at 60k and done coils and Maf just in case. Even with the extra added power i have still got the standard clutch and gearbox but my driving consists of 60mph for 20miles every day and sitting in traffic when there is an accident!
