Hi Guys,

My LCR 225's done 47k but its due its 60k service or 6th year service.

Its a little hesitant at times when i put my foot down and I think its down to some kind of missfire in the cylinders so im going to replace the spark plugs and replace all them coil packs with fresh new ones.

I think I know what needs changing for the 60k service but I need to build a list of things to buy. Im going to buy mobile 1 0w/40 fully synth engine oil (it does meet the vag std) oil filter, fuel filter (do i need to?) and going to give my CAI a good clean.

Might clean the MAF with electrical cleaner too if I get time on the weekend.

Is there anything else I should buy or do for this service?

I have been looking as GSF, europarts and halfrauds for part but idealy would like to shop in 1 place and at a good price. Its not really my car anymore as I gave it to my brother in law who lives in Dubai now. I just drive it to keep the beauty running (hence the low milage). So I don't want to spend dealer price for servicing but don't want to compromise value for quality or parts.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks mate. How much did you get quoted for you 60k?

Shouldn't you change cambelt and water pump to?

I know its 60k service on my lC

Im not sure if I should bother with a cambelt change at 47k. It would probably never see 60k till end of 2010 or early 2011. Never knew you have to replace the water pump at servicings. Is it a common fault?

I can do all this myself as its an easy DIY but Cambelt and Water pump might be a little tricky.

The belts age as well as wear and so the schedule was amended as stated above. Very important to change the water pump at the same time as well as they are prone to failure (impellor blades snapping) and are driven by the cambelt.

Yep should change water pump at same time, also its been recommended that you get a metal waterpump not the plastic one.

I actually got the 60k done as part of buying a car so wouldn't know how much that cost at a dealer. Soz.

If you buy VAG waterpump (you can do an exchange deal with the dealer to save money) I believe it is a plastic impellor. You may have to go aftermarket to get a metal impellor. I went with the VAG exchange and simply intend to replace the waterpump at each cambelt service.

Thanks,

I think Im going to do everything else myself apart from the cambelt and water pump. I will need to book this in with my local VAG specialist later in the summer.

Need to start asking for some bonus from work this month :) its either that or go on Capital fm's, pays your bills competition lol

Awesome do a cam belt kit including metal impellored water pump for the LCR
If you are not confident about doing it then i would leave it to a professional because you could do a lot of damage to your engine if you get it wrong

i got my cambelt changed and a new water pump fitted for £175 plus the cost of the water pump that i purchased myself from partco or euro, can't remember which. The cambelt included all the tensioners etc as well. Had it done in Gosport. Funny thing is she seems to idle perfectly now and didnt before!

that's what i thought. but the place came with recommendation and the owner is a ex citroen/ peogeut specialist. His labour chareg is only £35 ph! They are a bit tucked away and rely on word of mouth alot. He even sorted out the rattle on my exhaust for free.... when i went to collect they had just hand washed the whole car and were hand drying it as well! I have a thread on here is anyone needs work doen and local to Gosport ( brockhurst ind estate)

I was looking at that awsome-gti Timing belt kit.

I thought all I had to do was get the Timing belt, Water Pump, Tensioner and pulley changed. Is everything in this awsome kit needed?

I was only going to buy that timing belt kit from Europarts and a metal turbine water pump. Its the labour thats going to be expensive from my understanding.
