yes thats right ladies and gents,

after 6 or 7 weeks of joy with my lovely cupra.
It seems my love affair has now ended.

Developed a charming miss fire on port 3, thinking it was a coil pack (most common problem) i replaced them, only to find no difference! Replaced the spark plugs also, to try to rectify. Sadly to no avail.
Spoke to a mechanic who advised swapping over the fuel injectors to see if that was the problem, again sadly, no.

So... it looks like i have a compression issue.
Whether that be a valve spring, a piston ring, or a whole new piston, i know not.
But i feel misserable, the money is annoying, but its that ive had the car such a short time!
Its not an abused car either, FSH, loads and loads and LOADS of reciepts, the chaps from JBS even know the car to be a good un, and the former owner spent an absolute fortune on the thing.

Guess its just my luck really.

Anyway, thats my sad story over and done with, just wanted to vent a little.

Sadly it hasnt helped.

Andy. :cry::cry::cry:

Get it to a garage and get it checked out, they can do a simple compression test takes bout 10mins including removing the coil packs and charge pipe etc... Should i think be around 180psi (think cant quite remember but could check it for you tomorrow at work), if its low on anyone cylinder then could be numerous things, valve not seating correctly bent con-rod etc.. You havnt been through a flood recently have you, did it come on all of a sudden or gradually, also check that the spark is being produced by the coil pack, you might have changed them but it might be that the signal for the coil pack to fire is missing, Water in ecu, loads of possibilities not guna know for sure unless you get it checked out.

i'm booking it in 2moz. i know its definately sparking correctly. on all 4, and when i changed the injectors, the problem stayed with port3. so i know its that one, its not the spark, and its not the fuel. i can only think that its the compression.
not been through any puddles or anything like that. its been as good as gold since i got it, and the car is super clean too.
did notice it seemed to be losing boost at a stage, (towards top of the rev range), but i thought that might have been imagination as still pulled like a train.
then other day, on way into town just went bang and started driving like bag of bolts. limped it home very slowly, and been on driveway since.lol.
hopefully nothing too major.
Thank you for the advise though mate, much appreciated.
i'll get her into garage and see what they say.
thankfully there is a local VAG specialist down the road, so will get it into them.

thats good to know. mines running 240bhp. (im told)
so its not like its running stupid power, after all, Robbi had a 340bhp one, and his was fine.

i did notice that a green fuse in the fuse box next to the battery has gone, that wouldnt play any part for it would it? im sure it wouldnt, but would be just my luck.
lol

I went a good 3 months with issues and not getting the performance I should of. Run your car up to Storm Developments in Aldermaston. They should be able to identify the issue and sort it out.:)

Bill is right, the KO4001 is more like the KO3s than the proper KO4.
something about size and the inlet / outlet. i dont know if im honest, still kinda learning about the cars, 1st turbo'd car ive owned you see.
Its book in with the garage for saturday, chap whos local to me, specialises in VAG cars.
So should be ok i hope. might get him to give it a full service also.

thought i would update guys, for incase any of this ever happens to you, turned out it was an electrical fault.
Took it to a local bag specialist in Basingstoke on sat morning, i was expecting the worst to be honest.
i got a call from the guy at 3pm, saying "Guess what... Shes alive" so i raced down there as fast as possible. It was an electrical problem, somthing about the connection to the fuel injector being buggered or something. took him 3 hours to find it, and rectify. Shes working beautifully.
