Hi Guys,

Just a quick opinion from you if I may?

Just called Bournemouth Seat for a quote on 50K service with Cambelt and water pump change and they have quoted £633.92 :headhurt:

Sounds very steep if you ask me!?!

I thought cambelt/pump were 60k too. But that quote is what i would expect. £500 minimum anyway unless you have a mechanic friend or nice we independant. On 03 warranty will be over anyway.

Im gettin a mate to do mine as i know he's good and am going to document all work/reciepts/dates etc, so will have a more detailed service history... my opinion better than a dealer stamp.

I had the same idea as you, to do the Cambelt and W/P early at 50K to spread costs. I wouldn't pay that though. I think that was a bit steep. Independant place is the best policy as long as you can trust them.

I would reccomend my mate but its a treck from Bournemouth!!

i think that will be the sort of region you'll get from a stealer
maybe worth having the service done elsewhere, a VAG specialist

I thought the cambelt only had to be inspected at 60k - it doesn't have to be replaced until deemed necessary from inspection

Your're right Leigh. But I will be doing mine early so there are no worries. I have heard too many stories about them going early and I don't believe you can see enough from "inspecting" it, unless its totally shot!

i just booked in for my 60k service, with belt, and metal impellared pump, plus the usual stuff....£400 all in, and i get a courtesy car for the day. Chap's off here, and works on cantubury at a VAG specialist. Know of a few people on here who use him. My advice si..shop about dude.

Hello,

I paid £435.65 at my local SEAT dealer for a cambelt change, water pump, tensioner and interim 10,000 mile service, I thought it was a good price for a main dealer, this was two weeks ago.

Matthew.

hi ive been to Bournemouth seat had a 40,000 service done very very unhappy was quoted 250 inc brake fluid change but when i collected they thought it did'nt need it + they tried to charge me for it went off the handle at them if is was quoted the service with hte brake fluid change it should hve been done... now rant over if your in the bournemouth area you should contact Paul at APD an indpendent seat vag dealer also a revo agent. im having a 60,000 done in a couple of weeks been quoted approx £300 dont no if that includes a water pump.. Hope this is helpful.

Cambelt should be inspected at 60k and 20k intervals thereafter.

Be damned if I could tell if a belt would last another 20k and even more damned if i'm getting the blame for it breaking so I advise at 60k.

VAG have also started advising changing the cambelt at four years.
