Hi There

I've got my LCR going in for service next week so fingers crossed I don't get stung too much for other bits and pieces.

What sort of cost should I expect being a major service?

I know its plugs on this one and a few other extra bits over the other services.

Should be interesting. The dealer is £75 per hour labour charge.

they should replace plugs, oil +filter, fuel filter, pollen filter and air filter. I did mine myself. Easy jobs to do.

I paid £307 for mine. But had tyres fitted elsewhere previously. Also had pads fitted elsewhere. So all in all 307 + 250 + 140 = ouch. Plus Im having new rear suspension and a new water pump now. when will it end ?

BTW - I should have added, that whilst similar costs hurt when I had the alfa - Im quite ok with these costs on the Cupra R. Why ? Cos I love it!

Off topic a little - sorry... My dealer charges by the 1/6th of an hour. NICE!

From expereince VW normally round it up by an extra 2 hours.
A VW garage in manchester offered to re-barrel locks on my VDub for free. I moved south to Berks before I got chance, the VW dealer here wanted 2 hours labour. I complained to them, and eventually they asked - "how much do you want to pay". ..."nothing" was my reply. In the end we settled on a fiver.

Amazing the difference in one garage to the next. But I have to say charging labour at 1/6th of an hour made me want to keep giong back to that dealer and SEAT.

hmmm got quoted £330 for mine. I guess the labour increases this year must now be in place.

if you can get to Letchworth, Herts they were asking about £250 for a 40k service IIRC.

1/6 of an hour?? How do they quote that? 0.166666 of an hour? Sounds like a con to round up labour times for extra profit

All VWG labour times are in 10ths of an hour ie 6 minute segments. I wonder if someone is talking at cross purposes? makes the maths nice and easy as well.

The Land Rover garage where i work do it to 10ths of an hour. So to change a sidelight bulb works out at about 14 quid! crazy. We should count ourselves lucky. some bloke brought his v6 freelander in for a 72k service........£1000 pounds sir ooh sir!:-o

You guys are lucky - all VW garages I used rounded up to the hour.

- Sorry spareman I did mean 1/10th - for some reason 6minutes in my head, translated to 1/6th when typing.

Don't forget to check that your brake fluid is being changed as well at the 40k service!!

My 40k was very expensive...

Over £300 for the service, and I supplied my own oil, and didn't need the air filter (green cotton one fitted).
Then I needed 2 new tyres
Front & rear pads (then found out the rears are only 50% worn!! these are up for grabs if anyone wants a spare set!)
Front & Rear disks were showing signs of wear as well... but they had to wait!!

Well I had the service done and all seems well.

I noticed that the handbrake had been adjusted too and they have ordered a rear exhaust box under warranty. There was a bracket that is broken which is possible why it looks low from the curve in the bumper trim.
