Does anyone know how much it costs from a stealership for a 40 000 mile service and is this a major service. I am worried about getting my book stamped or can any garage do it. I had a few problems with my local stealership and would rather not go back. Cheers.:help:

i had it serviced at a VAG specialist (formally a dealer) and it cost just over 200 notes if i recall correctly. its not a massive service but bigger than a 10k service which is basically just checking the oil. :D 60k is the big one.

My 60k is coming up. Been quoted £200 inc brake fluid and then £245.38 if the Cam belt needs doing.

My 40k was done at Ted Johnson in Barnsley if IRC and they did a great job. I have a few other bits done as well, inc a new back box and the total was a whopping £500. Can't remember how much the service alone was, but it was very competitively priced.

No - it has to be inspected at 60k and changed if deemed necessary. It then gets inspected at every service after that up until 90k (i think) and if still not changed then gets done then.

Russian roulette if you ask me!!

Just had my belt changed - 40k on the clock, on a 4 year old LCR in January. Better safe than sorry on that front i think. It wasn't as pricey as i imagined - had front discs and pads fitted, (i supplied them) brake fluid changed, (again supplied by me) cambelt and water pump kit supplied (by garage) and fitted for £325.

40k they will change the belt. At least they will if they are following SEATs latest recomended servicing schedule.

FYI - I got my cam belt done. I got to the dealer and noticed a sloshing noise. (I posted a thread up about it). Turns out my water pump had split.

So I'm a lucky boy. 60k is just a check, but I think it's worth spending the money on that rather than a rebuilt engine. It's gonna go at some point! Now the way I see it is I've got £2000 (minus cost of cam belt) I saved on replacing the engine to spend on something else :D
