hey guys, have heard of some people retro fitting a 4wd system to the leon, i futtered with the idea for my ibiza but just isnt even sensible so was wondering if its ever been done on a toldedo, seen some fantastic pictures of a dtm toledo touring car and could help but think i 4wd system would be a great mod, also while searching for a threat like this i found a guy talking about dsg, and a 2.o tfsi would the 1.8t not be the engine of choice for the toledo with the leon or tt 225 agu engine dropped in?

would love to hear some facts, figures, one can always dream, but a 4wd 225 18t toldedo with a cupra R kit and a set of wide arches would be the dream come true

I doubt it.

It would be sooo much easier to convert a Euro 4wd Leon to RHD.... but if someone has, point them out, cos I'd love to point this out to them

The TFSI route is purely for the DSG. There's already a (albeit limited run of...) front-wheel drive Toledo 1.8T available straight from SEAT.

I toyed with the idea of the 3.2 V6 quattro from the TT (with DSG) cos this would have been a guaranteed fit at the front end, and I've already cut away most of the struture at the back that might have got in the way... but the transmission tunnel could be a major head-ache :headhurt:

A mate of mine who's done loads of swaps and syncro'd a fair few old-skool VAGs reckons it would have gone in without too much work, but finding a 'cheap' TT V6 is neigh-on impossible, and tbh it didn't seem worth the hassle

Plenty of 4wd 'donor' cars for this platform (Octavia, Golf, S3 etc) but if DTM style wide-arch is your thing I'd be looking to go the whole hog and completely chop an A4 floorpan in (cos big spacers are a bit of a no-no)

so were these 1.8t toledos with 4wd sold in the uk?

no, neither was the leon but there has been a few imported along the years but a rare sight at the very least

we ended up with the Cupra my03> as a lookalike instead

Donor cars are a plenty (£££ too) but there is a lot of panelwork required (genuine only - or import) to sort before even going near it with a bolt/spanner

You need to cut out the rear section of the floor pan and replace it with the one from the donor car. If the donor car is a golf or S3, more material is needed to extend the boot floor.

The picture above shows why the rear floor pan is needed, because those strut mounts are not there on the FWD models. It also means you will need the fuel tank out of the donor car because it is a different shape to allow for the prop shaft.

Once the new floor pan is welded into place and the fuel tank is attached, you can bolt the rear subframe parts on (shown below).

Then all you need to do is connect it to your new engine & gearbox conversion. It's not an easy job to swap the rear floorpans! Quite a few 4motion conversions have been done now, but I'm guessing a Toledo one will be most similar to this one:

because of the longer boot of the golf estate.

exactly the same work as the Ibiza idea but most of the parts will be almost the right width and at least the Euro Leon panels will help and be as near as you could make em

I'm not sure how it's done on ibizas, but all of the parts will fit right on once the rear floorpan is swapped. It's just a matter of drilling out hundreds of spot welds and cutting it in the right places first time. A TT with a BAM engine would be the ideal donor but I also heard someone say that a TT prop shaft is too short. I don't know if it's true.

ibiza would be the same stuff but everything would need thinning down to suit the smaller track width os as suggested elsewhere utilise Syncro parts for majority of it and if 6sp required some major chassis leg hacking up front if it can be squeezed in at all

Leon panels are near as damn perfect for toledo floor but rear end would need some improvising to adapt to it being a saloon that's all but nothing too hard then as you say bolt in the most of it

TT i believe has a shorter wheelbase so in fact the prop would be too short
