Hi everyone,

I have an annoying issue. I fitted the Audi TT 312mm Front dics and calipers, I got some pads for them as well. Now the brakes work fine, they just fit under my 16's and they fitted like the guides and everyone said...except.........

The pad rattles and moves around like anything. Sitting in the car it sounds horrid, all I can hear is something loose rattling around, I couldn't figure out what it was.

Anyway, it went to to garage to fix the electric window that broke I said can you look as I probably fitted them wrong, he said he did some investigation and said something along the lines;

"it's a floating calliper and you need a clip that fits over the calliper to stop the rappe"
"so I was sold the callipers missing a part"
"basically yes, you need to contact Audi for the part"

I didn't get any "clip" and I don't really know what he is talking about, all I know is if you look at my brakes with the wheel off, I can physically move the pad about 1mm and this is what is banging. I can only guess what I bought is missing a part, but I'm told this by someone who doesn't work in Audi's. Maybe someone could help me out and know what's going on :( it's depressing driving around with nice big brakes but a noise like my exhaust is lose or I am carrying a trailer. I get looks for all the wrong reasons

Thanks
Chris

Ok I tried a miserably failed :( I cannot work out how to do it...at all. I am guessing I have the correct part for my brakes, he asked what model I said I think 53-54 plate 312 mm discs 2.0 litre TT...so they should be correct ones.

Anyone know how to do it? Where exactly each section of the piece of wire goes...and can I put it stright on, or do I need to put it in, then put the brakes together...i.e can I put it on or is it going to be a job of taking the break off?? :(

Attached are the clips, the calipers without and the calipers with me trying to put the clip on it

I will get the bag they came in, in a minute to tell you, but I rang Maidstone Audi and said along the lines of

"I'm not sure what it's called but it's a metal clip that goes on the caliper to stop the pad from moving and rattling in the disc, it's for a TT about 54 plate 312mm discs 2.0 litre" he said "new shape?" I said "I think so..." and these are what he orderd. It was under tenner for two including VAT
