Hi guys, I have searched but have been unable to find the definitive answer.

I am looking to fit some 312mm brakes to the ibiza, and I have the calipers in the house, but having some trouble, confirming which brake lines i'll need to use. I have also looked in the FAQ.

Can anyone either confirm which ones can be used, or fully detail any mods that you may have to make to get some to fit?


I will be trying to put together a guide, whilst I do this, so holefully this will help others in the future.

Hello Forbez, could you let me know what else is needed (obviously other than brake lines) that I would need to do a 312mm upgrade? What car is the set up from? And what size are the discs on the cupra (non brembo) as standard?

This is from memory, but I think the standard disks are around 280mm.

You will need, 312mm disks, of which the cheapest way is to buy the disks from leon, s3, octavia (i think), which will have 5 holes, and then redrill them for a 4 hole fitment.

You'd also need the calipers and carriers, from the above cars,

Also, on the Audi TT's. Cant think of other cars at the mo, but its early.



On my first car, a fiesta Si, I had escort cossie brakes, which were unbelievable. I loved them on the car.

I was breaking a V5 Toledo a couple of weeks back that had the full 312mm set up, I did put it up as a feeler question for someone to use as an upgrade but didn't hear anything. I may be able to find out what scrap yard it ended up at, although it'll be Nottingham way which isn't exactly easy for you I guess?

Don't forget you'll need either standard SEAT 16 inch wheels or more likely 17's to fit round the discs. Some aftermarket 16's (and even some 17's) won't have the clearance to get past the caliper.

Forbez, I'd have expected the standard brake lines to be fine, only the Brembo's might require different lines.

yes , but the carriers are for 280mm discs . for 312mm ones don't you need other carriers ? i suppose the 312mm caliper woun't fit bolt on to the ibiza's carriers .

did anyone upgraded to 312mm ?

I used the Audi TT 225 goodridge braided brake lines. Worked a treat.

I drilled the new 4x100 pcd onto the disc (cnc machine for precision.), using two original holes and putting a new one between them.
Had a bit of calliper carrier machine away too so it would attach onto our hub.

There's a guide on here somewhere which i followed and found useful.

The reason I posted was, as I had already said, I have searched, but wanted a definate answer. Mork, has posted a number of times, that he had a fitted them, and had to make adaptions to the brake lines, but didn't say what was done.

You might find some brake discs don't need to be drilled. The EBC discs that I put on my Toledo had holes for four and five stud hubs, depending on the angle you put them in.

The data of TRW DF2631 280mm original disk
D=39.3mm is the overall high
B=22mn is disk thickness
D-B= 17.3mm

The "old" version of the 312mm disk VAG - 6R0615301B , TRW DF4064
D-B= 9mm

Because it's 9mm,
The caliper will be 17.3-9=8.3mm closer to the rim than the original disk and cloud have not enough clearance.

Might be better to consider the "new" 312mm disk 1K0615301AA, TRW DF4464S
With D-B= 24.8mm
Might need around 8mm spacer for the Brake caliper bracket but might not be a problem with the the original rims clearance
