hello all, my service mark on the dashboard is up so i guess it needs servicing, its got 27k miles on it so the next service should be a 30k service, i was hoping that someone could tell me what that involves as i might be able to do some of the work myself, and if i can do it all how do i get it to stop flashing to indicate it needs servicing but to come up with how many miles is left before the next one is due?

Have a look in your service manual that came with the car, as all the services are listed in there, including what's checked and changed each time.

If you're at 27k and your service warning is coming up, it probably means the last service was done at 17k.

I can't remember off the top of my head how you get rid of the service light, but it has been posted on this forum many times before, so have a search :)

ermmm .. what engine ?????

On the 1.8 turbo petrol the 30k is just the same as the 10k (biggies are the 20k ones) so:

* oil & filter
* new oil drain plug & washer (about £1 to buy - dont be a cheapskate!!!)
* everything else is just checks, coolant, brakes, brake fluid, handbrake - the like

but - it does depend on what car/engine combo you have :)
