Hi all,

Got an FR PD 130, unmodded ("boooo" i hear....), its done 22k so far but now saving up for the next service (good 8 months away for me) but i want to know what costs and replacements are done on the PD 130 ibiza at 30k? It'll be 2 years old so i know the brake fluid will be changed...how about the discs? Basically im aware the fixed price service is about £250 but i dont want any nasty surprises that are added on top when they say....ooo you need this and that and god knows what.

cheers!

30k service is same as 10K, oil + oil filter and inspections. Discs and pads depends on how its been driven in the past, there is a reasonable chance the pads could be low, discs less likely but still a possibility.

Shouldn't cost you anywhere near £250 even with the brake fluid change, shop around

And of course, don't forget that you don't need to use a SEAT dealer. Your warranty will remain intact so long as you take it to a VAT-registered garage, and often a good independent workshop will give you much better individual care and attention at a much better price.

Really??? i always thought the car has to go to SEAT in order to keep the warranty.

As long as SEAT approved replacement parts are used then you can take it anywhere and retain the warranty. Just mention that you want to keep the warranty alive and the garage will get approved parts for it.

No way, thats insane! I always thought that having it Seat Serviced it would sell better especially if someone looks at the log book before they buy and see the Seat stamps...but then i guess if im paying £100 for a service as opposed to £250 when it comes to selling it then i would be quids in. Shame i live down in Cornwall though, theres no decent garages around here that would give the quality of JBS....

They did an article in Auto express a good few months ago and took a few models like, focus, 3 - series, etc. Worked out how much you would have saved by going to indepependant garages for servicing, then went to dealers to get part-ex prices on the vehicles with and without dealer service history.

If I remember correctly, the BMW dealer intended to shaft them for not having a dealer service and they would have ended up worse off. But the other two or 3 (would have) saved a bit in the long run.

I have my 30k Service in about 1k's time... basically when i get back from scotland i prefer to do it on a "10K" basis rather than yearly. I have changed the air filter myself as the long scotland drive wont be great with a snotty nose. BTW 9k and the filter is BLACK! £13 from seat and 5 mins to fit (less if you dont have a strut brace)

My local, trustworthy garage said ooooh said that will be about £60 but obv i always supply my own VW approved oil (i have issues with trust on such things).
