Ok here goes... kinda rant going on here!!

Important Facts

1 ~ Lina_TDi works 10 minutes away from my work
2 ~ Lina_TDi lives 25 minutes drive away
3 ~ I live 15 minutes from my work
4 ~ Lina_TDi's phone battery is dead as of 2pm
5 ~ Guy coming to see Civic @ 7pm

Righto...

Left work at 5pm as per normal, on the 15 minute journey home, I pull out from a give way, here a funny noise, a funny smell, and my car sounds awful, feels lumpy and all the chavs are telling me my car has a PHAT exhaust...."coilpack" I think to myself....
So I try to ring Lina_TDi to tell her not to go home, but to head to mine, but her battery is dead....
I get home, after like 20 minutes of driving....and call the AA Seat Assistance service I got when I bought the car Jan 05, as I got 1yr warranty and 2yr AA Seat assistance. They have no record of me on their file....so I ring Seat Letchworth where I bought car from. They are very helpful and take my info, check the system and tell me they will call the AA people. I get off the phone and try to ring Lina at her home, no answer, so I wait around check my paperwork to make sure I am covered, and try calling the AA on a different number, still no record of me on their system (the fact I had used them 3 times before...this is a little odd). Anyway, I eventually get hold of Lina who agrees to come and get me so I can go to hers with her and collect the Civic to use on Tuesday as my car is going nowhere, she leaves her house within 3mins of our phone call...(this is about 18:15) within 5 minutes the AA have called me, and at 18:30 tell me that someone will be out with me within the hour... I try to call Lina to tell her not to worry and to turn around...her phone is dead

So now, I have a girlfriend very kindly going out of her way to come and pick me up so I can use her other car, and the AA man coming to my house, now I want to be with the AA man and my car, but I don't want to p!ss the girlfriend off. So I explain to my Mum what I believe the problem is and tell her not to answer the AA man directly about anything but to call me...

So Lina arrives at about 18:40...(bearing in mind the chap coming to see the car is due at 7pm and its a 25 minute journey back) I get in the Derv, and we head back to Lina's house, 5 minutes into the journey I get a text message telling me the AA will be with me within 15 minutes...now if Lina turns round to drop me back she'll be late and this bloke coming to see car will be ticked off... so...I call my Mum to let her know the AA man is on route...

So AA man arrives, my Mum tells him her son (me) believes it to be the coilpack, the AA man says "Does he now...oh right.." (p!ss off mate...) anyway, he confirms its the coilpacks, and goes to his van, he has none, (I told the woman on the phone to ensure the AA bloke had a coilpack for a Ibiza 20VT, as this was the issue).... so... he explains to my Mum the car may need to be towed to Letchworth to await parts, and he would get me a loan car!! At 7pm at night, my car is going nowhere....!!! He makes some calls and heads off to a place that apparently has had a delivery...which it had, a delivery of 60 of which 40 were already allocated due to back log requests/orders!!

He gets back, replaces coil, and car is fine, nice drive in this morning, even though I got up SOOO late ( ;) )

Moral of the story....CARRY A SPARE COIL AT ALL TIMES!!!

Phew rant over...thanks for listening :D

Sorry to hear of your problems Mikey, with all the problems i have had recently i know how your feeling

I really hope SEAT find the problem with mine today although reading the symptoms of what happens to a coilpack, i think i can scrap that too as mine is still driveable
